I won't give Calvin Klein free advertising by naming this post Obsession.

I have this thing for the IT guy at my job. I think it mostly lies in the fact that he knows EVERYTHING about computers. He'd never even seen the program I work on but he can troubleshoot like nobody's business. Plus he showed me today how to get an extra $600 back on my tax return (even though I'd already been told, but still, it was nice.) Then he gave me a ride into the city, and I asked didn't he listen to music since his stereo was off when we got in the car, and he turned it on to The Arcade Fire. Yummy. It's weird how music makes me feel so connected to people. You could be Bush's #1 supporter, but you say you listen to Handsome Boy Modeling School? We're best friends.

On another musical note (it's either C-flat or B-sharp, I can't remember which), listening to The Mars Volta makes my heart break and my loins tingle.

On yet another note, a close friend of mine and her family are suffering through a frighteningly surreal situation in their lives. This may seem vague, but any positive thoughts directed Bess' way I'm sure would be greatly appreciated. (Just don't say them out loud, she doesn't want to talk to many people lately.)

Oh yeah, and screw 24-Hour Fitness for taking advantage of the fact that they're so goddamn convienient. $350 for Danny and I JUST TO ENROLL! The worst part is is that we'll probably end up doing it.

crikey

I should be in New York right now. I should have spent the last three hours freezing my ass off in 13-degree weather, running up and down Broadway seeking out the latest and greatest in men's fashion. Instead, thanks to snow closures at JFK airport, I've spent the day surfing the web and watching tv, all in preperation of my flight out tomorrow morning. It works out better that way, though, because on my way to the airport this morning I remembered a few things I'd forgotten, and now I get to bring them! Here's hoping my flight gets out tomorrow...wish me luck.

and we're baaaccckkk!

As of right now, there are 4 monitors and two towers (both of them non-functional) sitting in my living room and I'm hunched over a borrowed laptop. I am in a blissful state at the moment, having spent the last few hours browsing all the sites I've been deprived of the last few weeks. I try to get a few peeks in now and then at work, but at the company Xmas party the IT guy made it quite obvious that he tracks our internet usage. He said he doesn't care (I think he just gets off on being able to monitor us all), but still, it's a little embarassing that all I do is read blogs about ladies and their babies. I don't need to be broadcasting it at work.

The past month in a nutshell:
Vegas vacation; work crises; entertaining out-of-towners; Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic; 24: Season 3; lots and lots of books; Closer, Meet the Fockers, and The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou; a very jiggy New Year's. I'll go into detail about a few of those later.

I must go. The Golden Globes are on.
